Okay, not a real phone number and I did have to play with the letters to read Ate em but I think you get my drift. Regardless to my loss of precious time, I am pleased to announce that the Canada Goose/Geese flock has returned to the field behind my house. In Winchester that is the first real sign of spring. After all, something must be up for thousands of birds to follow one leader time after time. Hmmmm sounds a bit like marketing (wink wink).

About two weeks ago, we had a new member join our household. No, not a baby, at least not a human one. We became the proud family for a teenie, tiny, adorable pup. Barley, as we could come up with nothing better (??) joined the circus and has had us all doing cartwheels since. He is a cross between a Bull Mastiff and a Staffordshire Terrier, with some Rottweiller and King Shepherd thrown in for good measure. Life as we know it has ceased to be!

As I sat here last night waiting for him to make his final outside run, I began comparing the arrival of Barley to the arrival of a new member at Dare2Click.com. No, I am not crazy, just a little nuts, lol, but hear me out. For the first 6 weeks of life, Barley lived with his mom, 5 siblings and a house full of humans. Now, those humans live a different lifestyle than we do, so Barley had issues to work through when he arrived at our home.

Most new members at Dare2Click belong to other Traffic Exchanges too, each with their own set of rules and regulations. We all know it is a must to read the TOS of each TE we join, right?? Well okay, probably we know it but do we do it? I have to say no, we don’t. Or maybe I should say, I don’t, so as not to lump everyone together. I normally read the “Cliff Notes” on the front page and only delve deeper if I have issues. So far that works for me, because, believe it or not, I pretty much stick to the norm. I don’t have a lot of ads that have sound (messes with my surf music); none of my sites have adult content(I’m not a prude, just know there is a time and a place); I always check and recheck my urls for spelling and grammatical errors, and content (don’t you?);I am pretty much a singular site surfer (only advertise one site at a time) because I am trying to build my name before I explode on the scene.

Barley has not yet learned to read, so I have found myself explaining the rules to him over and over and then some. He listens intently then tries to destroy the sheet I’m throwing him off of. Apparently something is being lost in the translation. Now rather than get angry with him, or giving up, I find I am looking for new ways to get him to understand. Rewards help, but not all the time. I mean come on, what good will it be if he only responds to a cookie? Probably the same as how some members ignore the opportunity to grab a few free credits or an extra showing.

I bring this up because over the last week or so, I’ve had a couple of inquiries into why we issue inactive warnings after only a few days at Dare2Click? So, for all the new members who may have missed some of the facts when joining I thought I would offer a refresher course as a courtesy to you . This is not a lecture, nor an information session, you’ve all had the opportunity to read the rules but sometimes something does not make sense until you hear it from the “horses mouth” shall we say. And, in case you are like Barley, and enjoy a reward for good behavior, anyone who joins the forum and posts the following four words “I READ THE BLOG”, I will give you 25 credits from MY own stash. And believe me when I say, I surfed and built the stash the same way you do, nothing handed to me. So, you should know, I am serious about wanting Dare2Click to grow and thrive, not just from an admin POV but from a personal POV too.

Dare2Click.com is a Traffic Exchange with a twist. Along with the usual rewarding of site viewings, there is the possibility to double every bonus you get. After roughly every 10 sites you see, you will be rewarded, sometimes it’s credits, other times it’s banner impressions or text impressions, and there is even the chance to win small amounts of cash. As we are NOT an investment site, the cash rewards are not huge, you won’t be able to retire after a week of surfing, but it is still cash and along with the 35% commission you can earn from downline purchases, you can build a nice little reserve that will cover coffee for the office. As well, after winning three “dares” you are entitled to winning the jackpot, which is made up of all the lost bonuses from you and all the other surfers on at that time.

At Dare2Click.com you can have an unlimited amount of URLs in rotation. As long as you have credits assigned, your sites will be seen. Now, you can use a different url for each space or you can highlight one or two sites only, the choice is yours. There is no penalty for this, it’s up to you. The traffic generated at Dare2Click is targeted towards fast delivery and your credits can get used quite quickly. Because of this, it is advisable to surf daily,to keep your sites circulating. That’s why if you have a period of three days of inactivity, you’ll receive a pre-loaded and timed specific message warning you as to the time before your account will show as inactive. This is not punishment and we don’t just throw you out should you miss surfing a few days. If you want your sites seen consistantly, you must keep the credits loaded and do your part. Targeted viewing means that during a surf your site will show more often, which means your site is put before the members more and will therefore receive the unique hit we all want. For we all know, it takes something like 7 viewings to entice a viewer to look a little deeper. So if your site is out there, rotating often, you have a better chance of receiving that all important unique hit. There is nothing personal meant by the warnings sent by admin, as a matter of fact, they really are to your benefit. You don’t have to surf for hours every day, (unless of course you want to) but you should surf at least once a day to keep the rhythm going. There may be times where you just cannot get in to surf every day and please trust me on this one, just let admin know and we will do whatever we can to help out. If you’re going to be away, tell us, we’ll make note of the time and make sure you are not sent notices. I’m not offering to cover your butt, folks, although, I can help out here and there (like an illness that keeps you from surfing, let me know and we can work something out), I’m just saying we are willing to work with you. You do your share and we’ll be there for you. An active member surfs at least 5 sites a day, when pressed for time, 50 a day when time allows.
PERSONAL NOTE HERE FOLKS:Having said the above, please be wise, I am not offering to break any site rules or change the flow on the site. I just want to say, we can, in extreme situations, help out those willing to help themselves. If you tell me you’re going to be away for the next week, then two weeks later, ask again, well you can guess where I am going with this.

Enough said there I think. We all know the importance of keeping our accounts active, be it surfing or otherwise. There are other areas that will add to your pleasure of membership at Dare2Click.com. I can tell you Cindy’s book on forums is “da bomb” and if you have any plans on using forums , its a must have item.

Speaking of forums, sigh, Yeah, you knew I’d bring it up here. Well, I am happy to say we have had a few more folks saunter in and take a look around. As a matter of fact, quite a few folks have dropped by, but most are too shy and never leave a name. Come on people, this is your forum! I am probably the shyest person you’ll ever meet but, and this I must credit Celson for, ITS FUN TO FORUM!! You don’t have to speak directly to anyone yet you can leave your comment, your ideas, your anger and folks will react and answer you. I am in there usually 3 or 4 times a day and Steve drops by daily too. Leave us a message, we’ll get back to you. Give us some ideas about what you want in your forum and we’ll do everything in our power to do it. I find it hard to believe that more of the Dare2Clickers don’t use the forum to their advantage. Its a source of information, a centralized location for sharing and will never ever be a glossed over dating site like some of the social sites have become. We are business people with ideas and thoughts who would love to hook up with like-minded folks who are willing to share. I’ve thought about offering a bribe but honestly, if I have to pay to get people in there, what am I gaining? I have no problem writing for my own pleasure guys, but it would be nice to know that there are members with opinions. Speak up. Please, come and give it a whirl.

Well, I’m TICKEDD. Was just about to post my wrap-up blog on surfing, had a great idea all worked out. Even had a flash of maybe interviewing….. Yeah okay I’m a bit early for April Fools and Tim Lindon hit the bulls-eye again! What a fantastic series, 60 WM and why they do what they do. And then I thought about how turn-around is fair play. So, although my motive is far easier to conceal ( I won’t tell you, but I will post my answer in a hidden location (a page on D2C, lol or about D2C even) Enter your idea and the closest answer will get a prize from me, curioscat. I’ve no idea what, but I’ll find something everyone can enjoy.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008…….Dateline Winchester where for no reason I can print I am sitting at my computer thinking about Joey off of “Friends” at 7:30 am. In particular, the episode where Joey says something to the effect of “Ohhhhh FREE traffic, not free traffic.” I bet some of you know the exact show I’m thinking about too. Darned if I can remember the appropriate punch word, but I gotta tell ya, I did a Joey-move myself with this one.

You see, I decided I would delight you today with my take on “If you don’t pay someone is it free?” After all, nothing is truly free, there is a purchase “price” attached to every move, thought, action and reflex we have. At first, my underlying thought was to talk about the difference between being a free member at a traffic exchange vs paying to upgrade. Then, I pondered… did I possibly believe that just because I didn’t pay to receive credits sans-efforte….is my traffic free? So, I Googled “Paid Traffic” and a whole other can of worms sprung forth. I had completely missed the “paid 2″ genre of traffic. Quel Dommage!

Do any of you play poker on the net? You know what I’m talking about? All the rage during the HL/O fiasco (hockey lock-out shhhhhhh) when an entire population of ill-prepared card sharks took a once-cherished gentleman’s game and turned it into lo-rollers flavour of the week? Yeah, me too. Heck, I was even pretty good at it. So proud too, just played the ‘free’ games. Soon found out I was not as good as I thought I was and lo and behold, poker players lie! They say they have nothing and you know they are lying but you still throw your million playchips into the center of the table and watch in horror as they make their flush on the river and your boat turns into an ugly mess of 2 prs. Does that not cost? Do you not suffer? Did you know you can buy playchips? Oh, and for all you nay-sayers who spout “I’d never pay for free chips” Yeah, right, and you would never spend $5.50 to create momentum either!

(I digress. Sorry about that, I lost big last night, lol and went and bought playchips, okay, there I said it. )

Now, what was I saying, oh yes, I remember, the many faces of free. I first want to set a couple of “givens” just so we are all on the same page.

1. A free traffic exchange starts everybody off at the same spot. How fast and how well you succeed is directly related to the effort (cash or hands-on) you are willing to spend.

2. A Pro traffic exchange has mandatory joining fees that in return can serve a higher ratio of credit/views.

3. Paying to have a list of names given to you will, at best, save you time balancing your checkbook. Penniless, visitor-challenged and possibly snickered at in the chat rooms. You’ll pay and you’ll pay and you’ll pay. And that’s not just my thought either.

And

4. There really IS no Coupe DeVille, hiding at the bottom of the crackerjack’s box.

Folks, I am going to be up front with you here today. I really did miss the boat on this one. There is no definitive answer to my dilemma. Sometimes paying to upgrade is a real boost. For next to nothing out-of-pocket, it is possible for you to benefit from upgrading at some traffic exchanges. The time you save by upgrading and “paying” for a little seniority is most often a good trade-off. You won’t get rich quick but you may open more doors with your improved positioning. I have been both a free member and a Pro2 member here at Dare2Click.com where for the price of one hamburger meal, I receive random referrals and increased bonuses for an entire 30-31 days, 35% commission on any of my down line members’ purchases. HI Once Again from sorta sunny, Winchester, Ontario, where the cows outnumber the surfers, as far as I can tell.

The surfing competition over at TrafficBunnies (and 15 of her closest pals) is Funished. Oops I do mean finished, lol. A draw was held today LIVE over at Affiliate Funnel to distribute all the prezzies. As soon as possible I will post a list here of the lucky surfdoggies.

So, we are looking at surfing today, as promised. I do apologize for the delay in this posting but I’ve been busy and busier as well as been picking over the information I’ve culled for this. You see, surfing is a conundrum folks, a multi-faceted area of what and why to say. I can honestly say I belong to well over 75 surfsites, some of every kind. I have received program upon method on how best to do it, how best to benefit, when the best time is to do it, blah, blah, blah. Hence my title, the Light Side of Surfing. I thought today I would show you the form I use to organize my surfing. We all have favorite sites , I won’t bore you with mine. This is just a method that helps me keep my surfs up! Now obviously showing this form will be a bit tricky. I’ve shrunk down a copy of my form and fit it in here. Using any combination of the parts will create a schedule that you must find easy to follow. Just expand the columns, plug in data pertinent to you and you’re off! If surfing becomes a chore, you’re just not doing it right.

Traffic Exchange : Name of Site you surf duhhhhhh

PW/ID: You will need these to sign in and if you’re like me, (even though I usually use the same on every site) the moment I need them is just after closing my page.

Joined: How will you remember your anniversary if you forget when you joined.

surf/referral urls: These are possibly the most important info you will need at your beacon call . Both equal they are what make it possible for you to surf, and as well why you surf. Most of us online are not fortunate enough to concentrate on one project at a time. By listing your ref and surf urls you can fill most blanks right away.

Two other important items to remember is the frequency you need to surf, and upgrade/downgrade information. The frequency refers to how often you have to drop by the exchange before the WM sends you a reminder. If it’s on the sheet, you won’t miss it will you?

I also add whether I have upgraded and when it renews. This is not so much for the value I receive from the upgrade but rather to save myself the embarrassment of missing a monthly instalment.

And so ends the light surf. You are really going to want to get organize, readers as this truly was the easy part. Look forward to Monday where our topic will be “Free Traffic, Can you really afford it?’ Or in the words of many proud, profound public speakers, “Free Traffic, Let My People GO!”

Today the thought I’ve had is to begin to explain Traffic. Over the next 3-4 blogs, I’ll attempt to show you 1) What traffic is; 2) Why you need traffic. ; and 3) Where to get traffic.

So here comes Number one, What is Traffic?

I began my journey on line roughly 2 years ago. When I started, I had no idea what to expect. I figured I’d just look up the “way to earn money” on line and poof, the cheques would roll in. Well, I’ve since seen three cheques and they were all from survey companies, who apparently have money to waste. Who sends a cheque for $2.50?? So, being rather stubborn, I forged on.

Then I found out about surfing. From the very first day, folks, I was hooked. I had no idea what I was doing, I just know I enjoyed it. I had joined a very pro-surfing networking site that had plenty of T.E.’s for me to join. I think when I first started, there were 42 or 43 different t.e.’s for me to join. I did and also joined ones on my own. A catchy ad, an attractive bonus package, I was putty in their hands.

I spent hours a day surfing at different t.e.’s advertising the site I had joined. I competed for referrals, top surfer, any contest that was running, I was in it. I ended up with over 140 T.E.’s. Try surfing 140 sites some time. Not divided over a week but every day! You see somewhere I heard that to get on referral, you needed to have 250 unique hits to your site. Think about it for a moment. 140 sites * 250 unique hits = 35000 surf sites required. Phewww forget it, I was burnt out.

I began to read about various surfing methods how to set up your browser to maximize your exposure. Sure that worked for a while but inevitably I found myself surfing even more. Hey , wait a minute, where are the time-saving how-to’s that I needed. Of course, no matter how many methods, how many different browsers I downloaded I was not going to get anywhere until I weeded out the slow sites and concentrated on the worthwhile sites.

Although I began to see a better return of hits, they still were not geared towards me. So what was I missing, where did I go wrong? It was then I read a report that opened my eyes to both why I was surfing and how I should be surfing.

We all know the importance of building a mailing list. But where was I sending the traffic? It certainly was not benefiting me. I needed a place of my own. Somewhere to re-route my traffic. Just like a rest top on the freeway, I needed a reason for traffic to come to my site. I need to re-route all the traffic I was generating. Fact is, I didn’t even have a site! I started to read more and more articles about surfing, traffic, the whole nine yards. I read so many different surfing methods, tried a few, ended up in the same situation, still having nowhere to send my traffic. I created some great down lines, but never advertised anything to them fearing I would alienate them. And it all came down to the same thing. I needed to have a place to send traffic, which meant deciding what I wanted to be “MY PRODUCT’ or “MY NICHE”.

So what have I learned so far? Traffic is important. I need a place to send my traffic. I need unique hits AND I need to have a responsive, active list.

Monday, Monday, the start of another workweek.  Well, if you’re a member of Dare2Click, why not take this chance to surf and win at the bonus game. What?? You don’t understand the bonuses at Dare2Click? My friend, today is your lucky day. It just so happens that I do understand and it would be my pleasure to set the record straight. Bonuses: When and how do I benefit?

I thought I would start off by explaining the easiest one to understand, lol. Free members, as you surf, you will notice that for each page you receive 1/3 of 1 credit. After surfing 20 pages, you receive a credit of 3.4 credits. The reason is, when you add .33 x20 +3.4, you reach 10 credits, which is what a free member gets as per their site allowance of 1:2 ratio. If you “go pro” your rate goes up and you earn credits at a 1:1% ratio. And your timer is faster so as a pro it takes you less time to get more credits. Clear?? Hope so, if not let me know.

BONUS GAME

After roughly 10 pages viewed each member is given a bonus. This bonus can take the form of credits, banner impressions, text impressions, even cash. The type of bonus and the amount of bonus is random, determined by a program installed on the site. It is most important to remember that the bonus is just that, a little added extra for the members. Credits are calculated in fractions, starting at 0.5 credits. Banner and text impressions are whole numbers. The cash prizes begin as a fraction of a penny, 0.001 for example, would be a bonus of 1/10 of 1cent. In other words, if your membership cash is $1.12 and you win a bonus of 0.001, the resulting total would then look like $1.121. If you were to “cash out”, you would receive $1.12. Not intended as a way to get rich, lol, this cash bonus is kept on your account and when you reach $10.00, you can withdraw your winnings.

Just to clear the air, you have the option with every bonus to take THE DARE . This leap of faith is another random spin-of-the-wheel that can double your prize or take it all away. Do you feel lucky, then take the dare. A bit uncertain, by all means, settle for the original bonus. Of course, losing in the Dare does have a safety trap, if you really feel the need to tempt fate. Play the bonus game, go for the double or nothing chance and should you lose, your prize is placed in a jackpot fund that builds with each Dare game played. If you play the Dare game and win three times in a row, you, my friend, win the jackpot. Ssssweeeeet!!

Another bonus some members may not notice is that after surfing 50 pages, your prize multiplier changes from 1 to 2. This means that from that page on, any surf prize will be twice the amount that it would have been before 50 pages. It will happen again at 100 pages, rising to 3.

And that, dear members, is the way it goes at Dare2Click.com. Definite bonus after roughly 10 pages, a little bit of lovin every 20 pages and just because you really are the best members around, a great way to double your bonus, every single time you surf roughly 10 pages.

I hope everyone had a profitable and enjoyable week. It’s Saturday already and I swear I lost at least two days somewhere!

Week Two and I am getting deeper and deeper into the “admin” at dare2click.com. This week was a bit more productive as Steve and I begin to get used to what is expected. Between brainstorming, surfing and re-writing some of the outdated info, I can still say beyond a shadow of a doubt , I am having a blast.

Today, I was in charge of posting the names of the winners in The First BannerBlitz Surf Competition, held on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Since this was the first official contest I was directly involved in, I was a nervous wreck all day. “Would people be willing to surf faster, harder? What if no one was interested in some wicked free advertising? To my delight, I am able to report surf stats for the day were phenomenal. We had over 5500 pages viewed, over 2500 credits earned and over 5000 total hits to members sites! Before I tell you the winners, I just want to say THANKS GUYS! I really appreciate the fact that the members of D2C are up to the challenge, ready to take the DARE.

When I first accepted the offer to help in the “behind the scenes” everyday activities, I really did have no idea at the time it would take.
I was absolutely clueless when I began. I mean, I’d surfed, knew what I’d like to see at a Traffic Exchange, but totally green as to how or why events happened. I am happy to say, to the best of my knowledge, I have not lost anyone’s credits, butchered their ad campaigns or made any blatant mistakes. (Except for the spelling of Steve’s last name. It’s O’Neal not O’Neil. Sorry Steve )
In this past week, we have had the opening of the Dare2Click.com Forum, the addition of the “tickler” bar at the bottom of the home page, been invited to take part in the newly released StartXChange Traffic Exchange List and have already witnessed the growth of our fledgling Down line Builder.

**TIP- members with an active down line, should fill in your referral ID ASAP. It would be a good idea for you to also let your down line know when you completed it, so they can then follow along, filling in ID’s.
